1:01 pm - What Did You Do During Your Summer Vacation?
|
so its september 1st. my my how time flies. (time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana) needless to say i've been keeping busy. i've had a handful of photoshoots, did my fair share of schmoozing, and frequented a bunch of gallery openings. for a month or so i was a regular at an open mic place in hoboken. i helped coordinate an event for the reservoir preservation association, did a little bit of volunteering (like clean ups and stuff), all for the greater good of my town. lets see, what else have i done? in no particular order: reservoir artists night, blades gallery, nukems gallery, made baklava for the first time, ben, ben, ben, went to my first ren fair, saw harold & kumar and napoleon dynamite (awesome!!), hung out with lawrence from stevens, peters gallery, the calendars came out (woo), had my first hookah (and second, and third, and...), wicked talent networking par-tay, insanely drunk fourth of july, and 11th of july too i think, frequent trips to the wonderlands known as asbury park, seaside, and shrewsburry (heh heh heh), weird nj outings, i lost the gothic icon contest hardkore, margaret cho show, an overabundance of japanese food, checked out the east village festival, im sure there is a ton fo stuff that i forgot. but this is the best i can do at the moment. the past is the past.... what can my faithful readers expect int he not too distant future? appearances at area bad religion shows, an exhibition of my art in a gallery (part of a 12 woman show), more photoshoots (for updates check http://www.iampurity.deviantart.com), more schmoozing, more boozing, more wacky obscure escapades, more flirting, im gonna be a sophoMORE, more poetry, more moi....

today i decided to annihilate my childhood. for years and years and years i had a huge box filled with toys sitting in my closet and today out of the blue i tossed it. all of my barbies, my little ponies, stuffed animals, dolls, etc, even my sled (how very citizen kane). everything is gone, thrown away in order to make room for my sexy shoes.

2:36 pm - world travel
|
i think it started last wednesday with pete (butter-knife), we began our little adventure in wo-hop, the yummiest CHINESE food restaurant ever! then we ended up somehow in the east village, at a MOROCCAN hookah bar. that was sexy as hell... i dunno, all i kept thinking about was alice in wonderland and the caterpillar sitting on the mushroom, smoking a hookah. that was superbly exotic, i hope to return there some time soon, mostly because it was very much out of the ordinary. i'd love to take my home-girlz there. pete and i had a fantstic conversation at the hookah place, (i got jasmine flavor tobacco and he got peach/apple, yum). i just realized that this is the worst grammar ramble ever but okay, i'll run with it. i had oodles of fun with pete except when he said that jhonen vasquez's name was pronounced johan. i know pete is going to read this so i may as well let him know that i watched the special features on the invader zim dvd and johnens name is said like 359 times and each time they pronounce it "joh-NEN". so there i win, buy me a soda pop. heh heh. friday i traveled to JAPAN with ben. we had lunch at komegashi (mmm bento box) then we went to mitsuwa for dessert and sake. many pocky and mochi balls later we returned to jersey city and went to komegashi too. komegashi too is the most fabulous japanses restaurant ever. its not so small and quaint like the original komegashi is. its right on the waterfront and its beautiful at night. the food is super delicious as well... everyone should go there. ben and i returned to my house to have sake, ben never had any before and i forgot how nasty it tasted. maybe it was this particular brand but it was pretty acrid. saturday chris rott (yes thats his real name) and i went to the bronx zoo. a good time was had by all. taryn called us up at some point and asked where we were, chris rotts reply: "AFRICA." heh heh. so yah, i got to experience alot of africa and ASIA and all of the interesting animals. on the way back chris and i also got pretty damn lost in the bronx, that was the most realistic adventure all week. the bronx is huge, and sort of creepy. also, yesterday i went to chevys in clifton, i suppose that can be qualified as MEXICAN food.... heh heh, i was in central america. so in conclusion, AUSTRALIA better step up and represent. this has been the best summer vacation ever, i dig vibing off all this diversity with out ever needing my passport. im sure i'll end up somewhere else, sometime, somehow. till then....

11:14 am - it burns!
|
heh heh, i am currently bleaching my pubes in order to dye them a festive pink. i am taking this opportunity to update my journal to take my mind of the tingly sensation in my nether regions. wheee... friday i had the absolutely best time with the mysterious mr. butterknife suicide. we met up on 34th st and then had a fantastic cab ride to the east village. the cab driver asked him if i was his wife and he said yes, he also informed the cabbie that i was his sister, his wife/sister. surprisingly enough, the cab driver continued the conversation. more amusing topics followed but its really one of those "you had to be there" things. take it from me, i was laughing the whole time. our attempt to see farenheit 9-11 was foiled, all shows fro the next 4 hours were sold out. so we went to see eternal sunshine of the spotless mind in a fantastic theater, this particular auditorium was equipped with a chandelier and pretty decorations. swank! the movie was cute and optimistic, and i love jim carrey so i didnt miss michael moore all that much. at some point we got smoothies (mine was superbly tropical) and i looked through butterknife's sketchbookie. its just like the necronomicon from evil dead but better because its homemade. mad skillz! after the film we went to washington sq. and watched the inebriated ceo's stumble about. i had oodles of fun. i must hang out with pete again soon.

omg i cant feel half my mouth! me thinks my sexy dentist went a little overboard with the anesthesia. i just finished up a root canal in one of my wisdom teeth. speaking of wisdom, i wonder if going to renes show on saturday would be wise. its hard to figure out why i would want to travel back in time and stand at a concert, his concert, and pay $5 in order to support some one who never supported me. saunders asked me to go to his show tonight, and i politely declined. why am i planning to go tomorrow. im confuzzled. old habits die hard. :::chews on tongue::: this is all very weird. hopefully the numbness will wear off by tonight so that i can regale chris rott with various stories of my misadventures. back to the problem at hand. not in mouth. i was sort of all for going to the show, but now im having second thoughts (third, fourth, fifth...) i wish there was a poll funtion in LJ so that i could post this somewhere in the "issues with the ex" forum or what ever and ask people what i should do.....

I dont want to do work. Is anything new? Never! I am such a terrible procrastinator, well actually I happen to be rather good at it, unfortunately. I have a ton of things to transcribe and I am in no mood to do it. Only 3 more classes left before I get my pretty pretty credits. Regardless, I am in the mood to be a social butterfly. Raul should be coming over and we are set to watch a DVD based on a Hermann Hesse book. Tomorrow I get to chill with Chris Rott for the first time alone (oOoOoO). He mentioned that hes never been to Chinatown so I figured that I should give him the grand tour. Whee. Then Saturday I should be going on a nice lil trip back in time. Rene's band (or whats left of it) is having a show along with some other bands from the past. I can pretend that I'm 15. Spooky, I am already reminiscing. Sunday is Ileana's birthday, hopefully I'll pick up something nice for her in Chinatown. Now onto the recounting of my week. Sunday Ben T and I went on a lil Weird NJ tour to the stone living room then Clinton Road. We had a grand old time, and some pizza. Tuesday I was in Hoboken for the open mic. It was really interesting just how small a world I realized that I live in. Everyone knew everyone and even if they didnt then there were at most two degrees of separation. The headlining performer was someone I had inadvertently met before. Ben T was there along with his shiny new camera. Ileana was my date for the evening and I must say that it was oodles of fun. I suppose I'll be going there as soon as my time frees up again. So yah.

I am in such a lazy mood today. I think I'll blame it on the muggy weather. All I want to do is listen to music and flip through photo books and maybe edit a few pictures. But no.... I have two exams tomorrow. As much as I like to complain about doing work whilst my classmates are sipping juice and getting sunburned, enjoying their vacation, I'll have 6 more new shiny credits in 3 weeks, a short 5 classes from now. But I'm still procrastinating.... I have some great news to report. My little role in the goth calendar has come to an end. Wheee. It has been very fun. FOTOGRAFIA got over 1000 hits today. I'm so proud of my baby. Lollipop magazine published a grand total of 3 photos of my sexxxieness. One inset on the cover, and a couple more in the Wicked Talent article with my home-girlz of Wicked East-Coast. From what Cydie says the next issue will feature us as the t-shirt ads. AWESOMENESS. I harassed Ben T. for like 3 hours through AIM last night. I was talking about using live hedgehogs as hairbrushes and why I cant be a lesbian. Needless to say I was being very spastic and silly. His birthday is this thursday and Taryn is having a get together at her job friday. Not like either of the two events are related, though they could be in theory. Gemini people Rawk, but then again I am a little biased, obviously. My friends! It's hot! Check out my new art-piece on Deviant Art. .G.O.T.H.S.I.C.L.E. http://www.deviantart.com/view/7915458/

12:10 pm - 4 doomy days
|
interpret as you like. ive had a 4 day break between the spring semester and the summer semester (starting tomorrow). also, i have 4 days before my actual birthday. either way, things suck. i havent been able to get a decent nights, unless you count the day when i woke up at 12:30 pm only to find that a pipe burst in my building. i had to run around (sans undies) in jeans that i threw on moving stuff out of the path of destruction. it was raining indoors, surreal, but annoying. other than that i have been trying to compile a resume, working on the calendar (my only highlight) and trying to be rested and daisy fresh for my 8 hour blocks of class. spooky kabuki is coming along well, i keep accumulating stuff that can be used as decorations. i need to run to the light store & pick up some red bulbs. then later today i get to meet maddi's boyfriend. he's havinga gallery show at the ground. swank.

shit! i am confused. i have gotten myself in quite a mess and it all has to do with pseudonyms. maybe its the fact that i carry around three different forms of ID with three different names each and every day that i feel i have the right to slap a new moniker on myself when ever the whim should strike. so far i have been known as sofya, sonya, purity, nv (envy), and now sofie d. digitalis fotografiks is now fotografia (shorter, easier to remember and to tell your friends about). so let me break it all down: purity = strictly modeling pseudonym iampurity.deviantart.com (pictures that i am in will go there) sofie d. = photography pseudonym fotografia = fotografia.deviantart.com (every picture that i physically capture will go there) therefor i can pretend to have multiple personalities and keep all my endeavors seperate. hopefully this all works out, otherwise i will need to restructure my identities once again and perhaps evolve into a completely seperate being. spooky, eh?

back. ive been out of comission for the past few weeks. who would have guessed that simultaneous finals & calendar shoots would prevent me from updating an internet journal. hmm. so to catch the readers up, last thursday (apr 29) i scalped my first tickets and made a cool $20 profit. people tried to tell me their sob stories but i was unmoved. mr. trump would be proud. the tickets were for rasputinas show in hoboken. nukem and i ordered tickets way back when, and taryn also decided that she wanted to check out the show. but when we got there the show was sold out. who am i to leave a friend out in the cold? so we sold the ticks and went to jhonny rockets and tunes and walked around hoboken for a few hours. i broke in my shoes and nukem and taryn got to bond. aww. that friday i bought industrial plastics in china town. my mom and i celebrated her birthday friday because she knew that i would be shooting a calendar that saturday. we had chinese duck & a nice bok choy stirfry that i created. it was a nice day but i was really nervous about doing the first shoot the next day. things started off somewhat rocky, we didnt exactly stick to schedule but everything went pretty much perfect afterwards. it was a great introductory shoot. especially since i was forced to get over my apprehensions and photograph the super awesome cyndie myst. sarah and vikki were also great, they had the most expressive eyes and such reposed facial expressions that they made my job easy. the school week was pretty blah. thursday i broke a slide with my microscope. i guess i adjusted the focus a bit too intensley and the slide shattered. im the worst biologist ever. for the first time that friday i didnt have to really do anything, i was a bit bored. usually i would be busy with homework of one sort or another but since things are pretty much winding down i was sorta left twiddling my thumbs. saturday was the second shoot. what a fucking rush... i photographed 5 people and a band. it was amazingly exhilarating. i think im beginning to find my style. everyone went out to a nice diner to eat afterwards as soon as i got home i collapsed. i woke up sunday at 7 but passed out again at 3pm and woke up at 7pm. ben was on the phone, he was telling me all about his exploits at the local open mics. what a sweetie. speaking of sweet things, at some point, heather and j started going out. awww. i initially introduced them to one another in anticipation of heather starring in j's music video (she was supposed ot be the rape victim) now theyre happy as clams. heather called me up and put j on the phone, he thanked me for introducing him to "an angel", i melted a little. we're gonna go get brunch at starbucks on sunday. today i think i aced my civ I final. im in spiritual preparation for the summer civ II class. 16+ chapters in one month. the teacher says that we're going to finnish the book. and i'm taking development of film I in order to get ahead in my media classes. 8 hours a day for two days a week till june 28th. im nuts. today i'm going with taryn to the cafe to figure out our next move regrading this calendar deal...
